Campaign Story

About Richard House Children's Hospice

We believe it is crucial that all the family are fully supported. That’s why our nurse-led team of clinicians, therapists, specialists and counsellors are dedicated to providing a range of support services to parents, siblings and the wider family during their time with us.

Our services include personalised health care, short breaks for families, play spealist support, music therapy, leisure and social activities, bereavement support, spiritual care and much more. Our focus is on providing an environment where families can create happy, positive experiences and memories together. At Richard House we aim to consider the physical, social, emotional and spiritual needs of each family that comes through our door.

The Volunteering opportunities available are:

Our gardens are managed by just one of our volunteers, so the support from companies is vital to keeping the 2.5 acres of land an enjoyable place to relax and play. The gardening opportunities usually run for a full day from 9:30-15:30 and can range from garden maintenance to special projects assigned from our garden wish list. These days are available from March till November on a Wednesday and a Friday. We normally ask for groups of 10 people or less for general maintenance.

We do ask that when a company takes part in a volunteering opportunity at Richard House that they participate in fundraising for the hospice within that financial year. We ask for a fundraising target or donation of £50 per person, it also covers the cost of running the volunteering day and funds the services we provide at the hospice.

Family Activity Days

Occasionally we do have the opportunity to allow our corporate supporters to join in and help out with our family activity days. These are a little harder to come by, but we can keep you updated with upcoming events. It is a great opportunity to get stuck in with some arts and crafts. We also ask for a £50 per person donation for these types of activities.

From this Campaign we would like to raise awareness of our corporate volunteering oppertunities and would like you to share this as much as possible.

Volunteering Makes a Difference

Whether you are hoping to gain work experience, learn new skills or make new friends, volunteering can be great fun, and we provide a supportive environment for all of our volunteers.
