Campaign Story

The tragic destruction of the Grenfell Tower started in the early hours of the morning on the 14th of June. It has now been confirmed that 79 people have unjustfuly lost their lives but death toll could rise above 100. Dozens of people remain unaccounted for since the blaze, which police fear was so devastating that some victims may never be identified.

The figure is expected to rise significantly. Teams of fire fighters were forced to leave the 24-storey building on Thursday afternoon when the fire restarted, delaying further the efforts to reach upper floors - where many victims are thought to have been trapped.

A growing number of frantic families are desperately appealing for news about missing loved ones.. The streets around the high rise block in north Kensington were plastered with posters begging for information about those who were in the building. More appeals were put up overnight on Thursday as relatives became increasingly distraught about their loved ones.

London Fire Brigade has described support given to its staff following the tragic event as "overwhelming".
